Beaufort employee heads for Edinburgh Fringe
Life is often a drama for Annette Littlechild, our Field Manager at Beaufort Research. Her role at Beaufort is demanding enough, managing a large fieldforce and overseeing all fieldwork on a full-time basis.
But away from work she has been involved with award winning The Unknown Theatre Company (http://bit.ly/n9mzQH) for many years now. Annette dedicates much of her free time to the Company, commenting: “I got involved when my children became members. It’s very fulfilling to see young people grow in confidence and see talent develop. Many from our group go on to gain entry into prestigious drama / theatre colleges and we have several former members who are currently enjoying professional careers in the business”. Beaufort assists the company whenever it can, promoting their entries to major Welsh play festivals through programme sponsorship.
Always aiming to develop the skills and confidence of young people, The Unknown Theatre Company is taking a new family musical to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (http://bit.ly/SCPAI). A Night’s Tale, written by Scott Pryor with music and lyrics by James Williams, tells the story of Billy and his magical journey into the Otherworld where he follows the Bwca on a Quest to save the world from the Great Void. The not-to-be-missed moment in the show is the Troll Dance, said audience member Fiona McAllister, MD at Beaufort, who took her 9 year old daughter and friend: “We thoroughly enjoyed the show, and especially loved the dancing – in fact the girls were inspired to do their own Troll Dance on the way home!”
The entire company is excited about the Edinburgh Fringe opportunity, according to Annette: “Everyone’s ready to go – it’ll be a challenging time for our young cast - performing every morning, marketing their show on the streets during the day and sharing the same flat! But it’s an experience they’ll never forget”.
