Television, radio and newspapers are a key component of today’s information-led society. Accelerating change in the media world itself, combined with the emergence of more knowledgeable and sometimes more fickle consumers, make it more necessary than ever to obtain research based data for policy planning and editorial purposes.
A TIME OF CHANGE
This is a time of flux for television, radio and the published media. Key trends include:
A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE
At a time of change there will always be a need for objective and properly constructed research, designed to meet clear objectives. Broadcasters and publishers alike will continue to wish to identify the needs of present and potential markets, so that these can be better addressed.
Beaufort Research has considerable experience of conducting research within the broadcasting and newspaper publishing sectors in Wales and can offer a wide variety of services to clients. We are based in Wales and are well equipped to meet the needs of these sectors, within the context of a bilingual society.
Audience Surveys
Beaufort has undertaken a number of ad hoc surveys of viewers, listeners and readers, with a view to measuring their characteristics, behaviour and attitudes. These are some recent examples:
Programme Research
Beaufort has undertaken a number of studies to gauge reaction to particular programmes and programme strands. The concentration has been on newer rather than established programmes, and the research has been designed to aid their development.
Beaufort is able to offer experienced moderators who know and understand the Welsh scene - without being parochial. We take a pride in being able to offer a fully bilingual service. We are experienced in conducting, reporting and presenting qualitative research findings in Welsh - and we count this as a major strength.
Press Research
Beaufort has undertaken quantitative surveys to measure the response of readers to editorial content and advertising. Our clients have been regional newspapers in Wales, including the key national daily newspaper, the Western Mail.
Opinion Polls
Newspapers and television broadcasters recognise the value of surveys of public opinion and behaviour, as a means of informing their readers and listeners. There is particular interest in political and social issues and Beaufort has undertaken many surveys on a wide range of topics. Our clients include:
